AUVSI 2011, WASHINGTON D.C. (BOOTH #1945) --- Curtiss-Wright Controls, Inc. (CWC) will demonstrate a wide range of hardware and software solutions for integrators of defense and aerospace systems at the AUVSI’s Unmanned Systems North America 2011 conference, August 16-19, 2011, Washington D.C.

CWC’s booth will feature several system demonstrations from the company’s worldwide business groups, including demonstrations of advanced Air Flow Through (AFT) cooling for embedded subsystems deployed in size, weight, and power (SWaP) constrained environments such as unmanned platforms. The company will also demonstrate its Skyquest Video Management System for air and ground surveillance. In addition, CWC will also display rugged Compact Network Storage and Network File Server technology and a range of hydraulic and electric actuation products.

-- Air Flow Through (AFT) Chassis Demo:
Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedding Computing (Ashburn, VA) will demonstrate Air Flow Through (AFT) chassis cooling technology. This innovative cooling technique blows air over conduction cooled modules. Since the modules are sealed the air does not have to be conditioned. AFT technology has been shown to cool high power modules of greater than 150W.

-- Rugged Network Storage and Network File Server Demos:
Curtiss-Wright Controls Electronic Systems (Santa Clarita, CA) will demonstrate its Vortex CNS Compact Network Storage technology. This rugged, compact conduction-cooled network file server has no moving parts or air-pressure dependent components and is ideal for deployed unmanned platforms. They will also present a demonstration of their Vortex DTS Data Transport System family of Network Attached Storage (NAS) File Servers (FS). DTS systems are easily integrated into Netcentric systems providing an easy to use, turn-key, rugged NFS.

-- Hydraulic & Electric Components for Weapons Systems:
Curtiss-Wright Controls Flight Systems (Shelby, N.C. and Boca Raton, FL), a proven industry supplier of ordnance bay door drive systems, weapons release and weapons hoist components for a variety of Unmanned and Manned Aircraft Weapons Bays and hydraulic ground vehicle equipment will display its high-power, compact electric actuation components, which can be used within an electric power or electric/hydraulic subsystem depending on the vehicle requirements.

Flight Systems will also display a variety of its hydraulic components for use in aerial or ground unmanned systems, including its proprietary designed rotary geared actuation driven with an inline brushless 270 vdc motor.

-- Video Management System Demo:
Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing (Laindon, UK) will demonstrate its Skyquest Video Management System (VMS) for use in rotary- and fixed-wing unmanned aircraft. The Skyquest VMS delivers extensive video capability and flexibility to aircrews across a variety of missions. It provides comprehensive management of video on board the aircraft and enables operators to enhance use of their gyro-stabilized camera system while viewing multiple video sources simultaneously.

The Skyquest surveillance system also provides previously unavailable video switching, recording and display capabilities. The Skyquest VMS is currently being fielded onto U.S. Army LUH helicopters, as well as being fielded with leading law enforcement and military customers in several countries throughout the world, including UK MOD and most UK law enforcement operators. The equipment has proven to be well suited for demanding airborne surveillance missions and reliable in harsh environments.
